When I pruned my cherry tree with Farmer Marty from City Gardens he took some of the pruned limbs, and let me know that if I took them inside and put them in water that they would bloom beautifully.
First they were gorgeous because they just looked like pretty limbs climbing out of a floor vase, and now they are starting to bloom. Now the leaves are climbing out from the expanded buds. The flowers are white and sticky, ready for pollen.
The tree outside is still waiting, but the warm water in the vase and the warm air in the house made spring come faster for us.
If you’ve pruned a cherry tree, I highly recommend the same process.
